Our School Dianella Heights
Welcome to our school. Let us share some important information about Dianella Heights Primary School. Our School Office is open from 8am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.
Dianella Heights Primary School is situated in a very quiet and safe locality just fifteen minutes from the Perth CBD. First opened in 1964, our school is comprised of clusters of buildings surrounded by gardens, grassed areas and an extensive natural bush area.
We have two grassed ovals, as well as tennis, netball and basketball courts. Students also enjoy the benefits of our well-equipped library, Science and Arts Centre, Italian Room and Boardroom. All students have access to iPads and every classroom has interactive smartboards.
We view education as a cooperative venture in which parents, as well as the school, play a significant role. Working together, we can cater for the needs and abilities of each child allowing individuals to achieve their full potential. Every aspect of our decision-making is centred around our school’s vision “Soaring to new heights in excellence through unity.”
Dianella Heights Primary has an active School Board, and P & C Association which provides ongoing support and improvements to school amenities such as the provision of interactive whiteboards, math and literacy materials, covered walk way, student awards and many others.
The main aim of the P & C is to involve the community in the school and support the School through various fundraising events. You can help your P & C by supporting these events or we’d love for you to join us at our regular P & C meetings.
At Dianella Heights Primary we believe that every child matters every day and all students can be high achievers.
Our motto at Dianella Heights Primary School is, Aspire, Learn Achieve. Our highly trained teaching staff provide research-based explicit teaching guided by data driven planning. We are a highly acclaimed school. When compared with similar schools, we are the highest performing school in WA and among the top schools in Australia.
We strive to provide a safe, secure and caring environment where every child matters, every day. We care about every student and every family at our school. This is why values lie at the core of all our programs; they are an integral part of all teaching and the learning environment. Our 9 Values endorsed by the school community are the drivers of our vision: Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Excellence, Integrity, Creativity, Unity, Honesty and Kindness.
Dianella Heights Primary School is proud to be recognised by educators from all over Australia. In recent years we have hosted visitors from all over the state and from Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia, who visit our school for professional learning. We’re also proud of our 2 Swan Excellence Awards for Professional Learning for Teaching and for Promoting Public Education.
DHPS have partnered with key personnel from Curtin University in order to strengthen our delivery of our core SEL Program, Aussie Optimism. We have also partnered with Murdoch University and the Froebel Trust (UK) to strengthen play-based teaching and learning in our Early Childhood Centre through an action research project. These partnerships will allow us to enhance capacity and take these evidence-based practices across schools in our Swan West Network.
Dianella Heights Primary has an enrolment of around 480 students and we know and care for each individual student. Relationships are built on trust, mutual respect and the acceptance of responsibility. Developing respectful, caring and resilient students is central to our philosophy. All children are encouraged to aim for excellence and to reach their potential through a wide range of programs that extend and enrich their learning.
