Harmony Day 2017

Celebrating in harmony together

Harmony Day Celebrations 2017

Harmony Day is celebrated around Australia each year on 21 March. It is a day about raising awareness of multiculturalism, recognising the traditional owners of this land and promoting a greater understanding in our community.  This term, our students have been learning about Australia’s history, people and the significance of  Harmony Day celebrations across the country.

On Friday March 17, Dianella Heights Primary School community held a special whole school Harmony Day Celebration Assembly.  Our assembly included items which represented our Indigenous heritage and the arrival of our convicts and migrants from all over the world.  As this was a whole school celebration, all students were invited to wear clothing that represents their country of origin or something orange, the symbolic colour of Harmony Day.  Congratulations to all students involved on a wonderful performance.

It was a great success and we are planning to have similar events in the future, so watch this space.

Dianella Heights Primary School is situated in a very quiet and safe locality just fifteen minutes from the Perth CBD. First opened in 1964, our school is comprised of clusters of buildings surrounded by gardens, grassed areas and an extensive natural bush area.
