Harmony Day 2017
Harmony Day in Australia is celebrated annually on March 21. On this day, we celebrate our country’s cultural diversity. It is about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. This day also coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
This year, in addition to our whole school assembly, students will also participate in a unique learning experience with a whole school Indigenous Infusion incursion.
Students will be introduced to Indigenous history and culture and develop an understanding and appreciation of the rich and ancient traditions of Australia’s first inhabitants through dreamtime, storytelling, dance and a didgeridoo demonstration. Students will be mesmerised by Big Al’s stories of the many indigenous tribes that have populated Australia for tens of thousands of years.
The incursion dates are:
Years 1 -3: Friday 17 March (1.30pm – 2.30pm)
Years 4-6: Thursday 16 March (9.00am – 10.00am)
